Parish-builder's silver jubilee

Canon Joseph McShane, parish priest of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Moortown, Leeds, and financial secretary to the diocese of Leeds, celebrates the silver jubilee of his ordination on Wednesday, when his parishioners will present him with a spiritual bouquet and a cheque.

Canon McShane, who has been financial secretary to the diocese since 1936, only two years after his ordination, became administrator in 1940 of the Holy Rosary, Leeds, where in 1942 he opened the Mass Centre at the Corner House, Moortown, from which his present parish—of which he became parish priest in 1945—has grown. A jubilee brochure telling the story of his work in the parish has been prepared by a parishioner, Mr. J. F. Fielding, K.C.S.G.
