T the time of going to Press ' there was no confirmation that the widely publicised Decree of the Sacred Congregation of the Council about the dispensation from abstinence today (Friday) applied to this country. We therefore quote the announcement as published on Wednesday by the French Catholic daily La ['rait-: "The faithful throughout the world are dispensed from abstinence on Friday, May 1, on the occasion of the feast of St Joseph the Worker, by a Decree of the Sacred Congregation of the Council."
