Westminster privilege
THE Pope has granted to
Cardinal Godfrey, Archbishop of Westminster, through the Sacred Penitentiary, certain great privileges for those who visit the shrine of Our Lady and pray there fur the Pope's Intentions.
On all universal feasts of Our Lady a Plenary Pardon may he gained by all the faithful, under the usual conditions, and on all other days a Pardon of three years. One Pater, Ave and Gloria suffice for the Pope's Intentions.
This early fifteenth century Nottingham alabaster was brought From France a few years ago and bought for the Cathedral by the late Cardinal Griffin. In medieval times Our Lady of the Pevve or of Power was enshrined both in the Palace of Westminster and in the Abbey and enriched by Rome with many indulgences.
Those also governed our land constantly invoked Our Lady's intercession under this title.
