Overseas students' chaplain

FR. PHILIP CARPEN TER, a former Anglican clergyman, has been appointed by Cardinal Heenan as national chaplain and representative of the hierarchy to overseas students in this country.

Fr. Carpenter studied at the Beda College in Rome. After two years at the Sacred Heart Church, Bushey, he was appointed chaplain to the eastern colleges of London University and assistant priest at the Guardian Angels, Mile End.

For the last four years he has been assistant chaplain to Mgr. Bruce Kent at the Catholic Chaplaincy in Gower Street, London, W.C.1, and chaplain of the City University.
