Catholic upbringing stops star going nude

BY DAVID V BARRETT

ACTRESS Jessica Alba has said that she would never appear nude on screen because of her Catholic upbringing.

The 28-year-old American actress was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Ac tress – Television Series Drama in 2000 for her role in the near-future sci ence fiction series Dark Angel, and has gone on to star in numerous films, including as a dancer in Sin City. Although she said she left the Church over its condemnation of premarital sex and homo sexuality she still believes in God, and puts her attitude to nudity down to her religious upbringing. “I come from a very Catholic family so it wasn’t seen as a good thing to flaunt yourself like that. I can handle being sexy with clothes on but not with them off,” she said.
