Lutheran paper suggests envoy to Holy See

The Swedish Lutheran review Var Kirka (True Church) has proposed that Sweden should send a permanent diplomatic mission to the Holy See.

The proposal is startling enough far a country which in modern times has looked askance at the Church, but so far it has aroused no adverse comment in Sweden.

Recalling that the Holy See has Nuncios and Apostolic Delegates in many countries, and that 41 of these nations are represented at the Vatican, Var Kirka points out that four of these countries—Great Britain, the Netherlands, Liberia and Finland —are' predominantly Protestant.

"We have envoys and representatives in all the South American Republics," says the review. Can it be thought that these countries are more important than the Vatican?"

Var Kirka remarks that the opening of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Sweden is a much more practical question than might appear at first sight.
