A MOUNTAIN POWERHOUSE
Contemplatives in the world of Islam
DELEGATES travelling from many parts of the world for the 14th Plenary Assembly of Pax Romani' have been told that their meeting—planned to be held at the Benedictine Monastery of Tioumliline In the high Atlas of Morocco—is "off".
The meeting has been cancelled because the Moroccan Minister of Information has stressed the strong objection taken by his government to "any
meetings of Christians in his country".
In case some misconstruction might be put on the Pax Romanis gathering (theme: "The Role of the Educated African in the New Africa") and in the interest of the Monastery, it was decided that no meeting, not even a retreat, would be held at Tioumliline. An attempt is being made to plan the meeting elsewhere—perhaps in Paris.
