Caroline annulment denied

THE VATICAN and Monogasque officials have denied reports in an Austrian newspaper that Princess Caroline of Monaco's first marriage has been annulled by the Vatican.
An article in the daily Die Presse last week said that the Sacred Rota had decided some months ago to annul the marriage between Princess Caroline and Philippe Junot on the grounds of his unwillingness to start a family. Their marriage
was dissolved by a civil court in Monaco in October 1980.
Mgr Turnatin, who is dealing with the Princess's case at the Vatican, said that he knew nothing of any annulment.
Princess Grace, Princess Caroline's late mother, is known to have visited Rome in 1980 to seek an annulment; a request that was refused.
Princess Caroline married Italian businesgman Stefano Casiraghi in 1983. The couple have one child.
