From Mr Patrick McKay Sir, The Population Research Institute (PRI) recently won a stunning pro-life victory. Thanks RI's investigations-into coerced abortion and sterilisation in China, President Bush vetoed a staggering $34 million earmarked for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). PRI convinced President Bush that this US funding would have been illegally used to forcibly kill unborn babies and forcibly mutilate women through sterilisation.
It has now emerged that European Union funding for the UNFPA has been delayed. This delay indicates the grave disquiet among members of the European Parliament about increased spending for the UNFPA in the light of the US State Department's findings that the UNFPA is helping China to "more effectively" carry out its programme of forced abortion. After presentations by PRI to the members of the European Parliament outlining the UNFPA collusion in China's forced abortion regime, a vote on a report detailing the European Union's contribution to groups such as UNFPA was put on hold until November.
I would urge readers to write to their local MEP requesting that all proposed EU funding to the UNFPA be cancelled. Details of your local MEP should be available from any public library.
Yours faithfully, PATRICK MCKAY Bedford
