Blessing for a Sister

CONGRATULATIONS to Sr Scholastica of the Holy Family Convent, London Road, Enfield who was presented with a special Papal Blessing, in the form of a framed certificate, a gift from Mrs Elda Wills, a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St George, Enfield, whose brother, Fr Lorenzo Minuti is a priest in Rome.

The gift, a sign of gratitude and appreciation for over 50 years of valiant work for the Church, was presented by the V Rev Canon Herbert Veal, the former parish priest, who is now National Youth Chaplain in Sierra Leone, and Fr Frank Whale.

. Sr Scholastica has worked as sacristan in both the present church and the previous one which was destroyed by a iandmine in 1940.

The presentation, during Mass, came as a total surprise to Sr Scholastica, who has lived in London Road, opposite the church, since taking her vows 63 years ago. Sister, who declined to reveal her age, declared she was "surprised and thrilled" by the presentation.
