Alderman E. F. Markey, J.P., a parishioner of Our Lady of Compassion, Upton Park, has been elected Mayor oe East Ham for the ensuing year.
Born in Ireland and educated in Liverpool, Alderman Markey has many years of public service to his credit and his deserved election means that the two adjacent boroughs of East Ham and West Ham have Catholic Mayors this year.
