Tangney Tours was founded in 1974 by John Tangney and the motivating force of the company was to look after the needs of christians going on pilgrimage and holidays to Lourdes and other places.
Over the past 30 years the company has grown to become the number one pilgrimage operator to Lourdes from the UK with our own chartered flights twice weekly from Stansted direct to Lourdes airport. In addition we are able to offer pilgrims the opportunity to fly from most regional airports around the UK direct to Lourdes on our own flights or scheduled airlines to Pau and Toulouse.
Gaining from our experience with taking pilgrims to Lourdes over the years we have added the choice of destinations to include all the major shrines and places religious and historic interest in Europe as well as the Holy Land and Goa.
Most destinations are serviced by air but we are able to offer pilgrims the option of travel by coach and in some cases by train.
We understand that pilgrims have different reasons to travel, some for personal devotion, some for religious interest and others for support of the elderly and those who may have an illness or physical disability. We recognise that for many going on pilgrimage is not simply a holiday and may require special services, needs and facilities. We are fully aware and have a thorough understanding of the range of needs of our pilgrims. We can ensure that the needs of our customers are recognised and serviced both in the method of travel and hotels selected, particularly in Lourdes where extensive services are available.
The Tangney Tours Team is a close knit family many of whom have been with the company for many years. In most cases the person you talk to will have been to the destinations they handle, visited the hotels and met the staff. They may well have been on the excursions and tours and can give detailed information about the particular pilgrimage. We also have our own full time staff in Lourdes and local representatives in most of our other destinations. Generally a representative will meet you at your arrival point, be available to you during your stay and bid you farewell on your departure.
Our pilgrimages are available to everyone from individuals, families and small groups to large groups from parishes, schools and the like. We offer complete flexibility from accommodation or flight only for an individual to Lourdes to complete package and itinerary for groups of several hundred on large diocesan pilgrimages. We have a range of pilgrimages available to most of the destinations listed on the left which anyone may join as an individual or as a group. For groups of 20+ we are able to offer customised travel and accommodation to almost any destination.
