Interfaith honour for the Pope
THE NEW Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Faustino Sainz Muñoz, has accepted a prestigious award for interfaith work on behalf of the Pope.
The Interfaith Gold Medallion – Peace Through Dialogue was awarded to Pope John Paul II by the International Council of Christians and Jews at a special ceremony in the Apostolic Nunciature in Wimbledon. The Pope had been due to receive the award in person on the same day, but was too unwell.
In a letter signed during the event and addressed to the Pope, the Council’s patron, Sir Sigmund Sternberg, and the other members assured the Pope of their prayers for the restoration of his health.
