Supporting the lost
I would urge all readers to express their support for the courageous hunger strikes in Santiago, London, and throughout Europe. Relatives of Chileans who have been "kidnapped" by the military police in Chile have been on hunger strike since May 22. The hope is that their brave and unselfish struggle will touch the world's conscience and that as a result pressure will be exerted on Pinochet's repressive regime.
Even as I now write, countless Chilean's are languishing in Pinochet's concentration camps. At this very moment a pregnant woman may be receiving electric shocks, or a student may be undergoing asphyxiation. A farmer may be suffering under his gaoler's kicks.
We, in this country, can have no real idea of the intensity of the repression and the brutality of the torture which is taking place in Chile.
More than 2,500 people have disappeared in Chile. Their relatives are now offering their lives in a hunger strike, so that the truth may be told.
Letters and telegrams of support • can he sent to: Parroquia `La Estampa", Independencia 633, Santiago, Chile. .11-le oppressed people of Chile need our help.
