In a Midlands town prayers were asked at all the Masses on Easter Sunday for two dead Germans and one severely injured lying in the local infirmary, and Mass was offered on Tuesday for the deceased.
They were members of the crew of an enemy machine brought down on the outskirts of the town in the early hours of Good Friday.
" Thus," said the priest, in asking for prayers, " do we rise above paganism—by praying for our enemies."
