Mother Berchmans

PROVINCIAL OF SISTERS OF ST. JOSEPH The death of the Rev. Mother Provineial Berchmans, of the Congregation of Sisters of St. Joseph, took place at the Provincial House of St. Joseph of Annecy, Stow Hill, Newport, on Monday. Requiem Mass was offered at the Convent Chapel on Wednesday, when a number of priests took part in the choir. Mother Berchmans was visited during her last illness by Archbishop McGrath, who gave her the Apostolic Blessing. The funeral took place at St. Woolen' Cemetery on Maundy Thursday. Mother Berchmans had been Provincial for the past eleven years and was aged 75. She was to have celebrated the Golden Jubilee of her pi•olession in May next.
