U.S. Catholics Study South America : In line with the Government's desire to encourage a better understanding of the culture and ideals of the Southern Republics, several student tours to Latin-American aountries are being planned for July and August, in affiliation with the Institute of lbero-American Studies of the Catholic University of America.

the day. The occasion was held simultaneously with the conclusion of the visit made by American warships. Sydney Catholics joined in the enthusiastic welcome accorded the visiting naval representatives.

Eucharistic Congress : Three hundred and thirty-three bishops, 23,000 priests, members of 23 national men's organisations and 16 national women's groups, and thousands of Sodalists throughout the country, have been invited to attend the ninth National Eucharistic Congress to be held in St. Paul and Minneapolis front June 23 to 27. Invitations will reach the majority of the country's 22,000,000 Catholics, Us, Celebrates Social Encyclicals: Mgr. John A. Ryan, Director of the Department of Social Action, National Catholic Welfare Conference; the Rev. Wilfrid Parsons, S..1., of the Catholic University of America; and William Hard, noted journalist and radio commentator, will be the principal speakers at the national discussion conference to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Pope Leo XIII's Encyclical Rerum Novarum. The conference will be held on Ascension Thursday, May 22.

Cantwell, Archbishop of Los Angeles, in a stirring broadcast appeal for aid to the distressed war-stricken countries. Archbishop Cantwell's plea concluded a radio drama entitled Charity for the Wandering Christ, in which Spencer Tracy, Irene Dunne, Una O'Connor, Geraldine Fitzgerald, William Gargan, Jane Wyatt. Pedro de Cordoba, Jack Haley and Dennis Day appeared in a programme written by Martin H Work.
