Taking note of the decision of the German military chaplaincy, the Bishop of Namur made the following comment " Front these events we have to .draw a lesson for the faithful. The gravity of the penalty which we publicly announced, and which has just been remitted, proves the inconsistency-which is a scandal to Christian people -of those who think they can unite ail ostentatious practice of their religion with a proud disdain of the properly constituted religious authorities."
