Priest asks Nam about prisoners

FR. Patrick O'Connor, who is reporting the war in Korea for Catholic newspapers throughout the world, has made direct contact with General Nam, head of the North Korean delegation at the Kacsong armistice conference, in the interests of civilian prisoners. particularly missionaries.
The first exchange was unsatisfactory. but it is hoped that it will lead to the release of some prisoners or some news of them.
General Nam, answering a letter from Fr. O'Connor, said that " if I have time" he will refer the request for news to " the proper authorities."
He also claims that "everybody has religious freedom" and that the " People's Army and the people do not imprison peaceful persons."
Prisoners are Bishop Patrick Byrne, Apostolic Delegate to Korea, Mgr. Thomas Quinlan, the Tipperary-born Prefect Apostolic of Chunchon, and Mgr. Patrick Brennan, Prefect Apostolic of Kwangju.
