A slanderous charge made by Unita, the Rome Socialist publication, that Cardinal Marmaggi, Prefect of the Sacred Congregation of the Council, had presided and preached at a neo-Fascist Mass on the anniversary of Mussolini's death was repudiated by L'Osservatore Romano.
L'Osservatore explained that on the day in question Cardinal Marmaggi had celebrated a Mass in the chapel of the College of St. Joseph for the college students.
After the Mass. His Eminence urged the students to show special honour and love for Jesus in reparation for the offences committed against Him, even in the Constituent Assembly.
