Pro-choice group prints Catholic blacklist

BY SIMON CALDWELL

A PRO-ABORTION group has published a blacklist of European Catholic organisations and individuals.

The list drawn up by Catholics For a Free Choice, a group led by former nun Frances Kissling, includes cardinals, politicians, journalists, doctors, pharmacists and such Catholic organisations as Opus Dei, Focolare and Communion and Liberation.

It accuses the entire family of the late Professor Jerome Le Jeune, once a close friend of Pope John Paul II, as being “involved in some capacity in the Vatican’s promoral order and anti-choice departments”.

In a report called “Preserving Power and Privilege: the Vatican’s Agenda in the European Union”, the group, which is sponsored by birth control charities, said the Church considered the EU consensus on sexual licence as the “centrepiece” of its battle with the “culture of death”.

The report said: “Europe is the last hope for the world’s poor women. And make no mistake, Europe and the EU are the next targets of anti-family planning advocates from the Vatican and its conservative Catholic allies.”
