Marchers seek unifying vision

THE SPONSORS of a massive annual pro-life march in the United States have chosen the theme of “unity” for this year’s demonstration.

To mark the 31st anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade case that legalised abortion on demand, sponsors of the annual March for Life have chosen “Build Unity on the Life Principles” as the theme for the January 22 rally on the Ellipse and march to the US Capitol and Supreme Court buildings in Washington. “Some people think unity is everybody holding hands, and we all be nice to one another,” said Nellie Gray, who had directed each march since1974. “We’re not talking about that. We’re talking about unity in the life principles — no exceptions, no compromises.” Miss Gray defines possible exceptions and compromises as “life of the mother, health of the mother, rape, incest, a deformed child and all that”.
