Egyptian police

arrest doctor

POLICE in Egypt are questioning a doctor on suspicion of performing illegal abortions after his employees found the bodies of 16 foetuses in his rubbish.

Dr Abdel Mohsen Ibrahim, 58, claims that he obtained the foetuses legally for the purposes of scientific research, but the police doubt that he needed them for this, because he is an osteopath.

Abortion is permitted legally m Egypt only to save the mother's life.
