New chapel for Minster Abbey

ON Wednesday, the Vigil of the Assumption of Our Lady. a new chapel. was blessed at St. Mildred's Abbey, Minster, near Ramsgate, by the parish priest, Fr. Thomas. O.S.B. It is an extension of the present one and was built to provide extra accommodation for ladies from the convent Guest House and for local people wishing to come to services there.

Work was begun on May 13, and was completed on August 13. The altar, of unhewn blocks of Portland stone, was made by a master stone-mason who lives opposite the Abbey. and the candlesticks of wrought iron were made by the local blacksmith. The tabernacle was made in Munich,
