Advance plans are being made by the Brentwood Diocese to cope with the proposed new town, at Withydean, to accommodate 10,000 of London's overspill population. which has been accepted by the Urban District Council at Witham, in Essex.

Witham already has one small church which bears the name to the Holy Family. The existing parish will, however, be unable to cope with an increased population, and 1 was told by Canon Eric Goldingay, Financial Secretary of the Diocese. that a site for a Church at Withydean has already been applied for, The overspill plan, which affects the present county of Middlesex, as well as London, will take 10 years to complete, and by that time, said Canon Goldingay a church should be ready. Preparations are also being made to use a hall in the area as a third Mass centre, if this becomes necessary.
