Fourth Successor to " Cure d'Ars ": The Rev. Fr. /toilet has been appointed " Cure d'Ars " by the Holy See and is the fourth successor of St. John Vianney. Since the death of the Saint the appointment has been reserved to the Holy See.
Vatican Radio on French Reforms: in a recent broadcast from Radio Vatican it was stated " one of the chief characteristics of the new French law of July, 1940 is a guarantee of the rights of the family as well as labour and religion." In referring to divorce, the broadcaster said: " To-day we know what it means to have flaunted the law of nature and of God; thus the penitent French."
Finnish Stamp Honours Bishop: The Finnish Government has issued a postage stamp with the portrait of the great Finnish Catholic Bishop, Magnus Tawast, who lived in 1400. The parents of the Bishop were landowners and came from Turku. Bishop Tawast presided over the Finnish Church for nearly 40 years, from 1412 to 1450. He built many churches, reorganised the liturgy, favoured processions and paid attention to the formation of the clergy.
Aleazar Chaplain Hero Dies: Fr, Vasquez Carneraza, heroic Dominican who acted as chaplain to the Toledo Alcazar Cadets when they were besieged by the Leftist Army, has died, his death being traceable to long imprisonment during the civil war. The cadets pleaded with their attackers to send a priest to them so that they might prepare for death, The Leftists allowed Cr. Cameraza to enter the fortress on condition that he return in 15 minutes. He was being held prisoner by the Leftists. At the gate of the Alcazar he gave absolution to the cadets.
