VERY soon the Candle will have been removed from the Sanctuary and a new period in the Church's life will begin. That period we call Pentecost. It tells the story of the first apostles facing the hostile world with the message and love of Christ.
The reminder that we arc the Light of the World, the visible reminder of the Paschal Candle has gone. It is presumed that we have grasped the meaning of it, that we have met the challenge it hands out to us, met the challenge bravely and with purpose.
Please God, that will be the case for us all in 1959. And when the hour conies for the celebrant to inscribe the year 1960 on next year's Paschal Candle, please God, the ranks of the lay apostolate shall have increased a hundredfold and many more Catholics in general shall be conscious that through being Catholics they are not simply belonging to a denomination, RC., but that they are the Light of the World.
