MRS KATHLEEN CONNOR, pictured below, of St Augustine's parish, Barkingside, Ilford, winner of the Tunstall Telecom 'Caring Award' for 1984, plus £1,000.
Mrs Connor, a 67 year old grandmother, nurse, and mother of six, was given the award for her amazing record of helping other people by her voluntary work with the elderly and the housebound. She is the founder of the St Augustine's Old People's Club, Barkingside, and also works for Redbridge Age Concern. She was nominated "most caring person in Britain" by the President of the Brentwood Branch. of the Catholic WomenTs League Housing Association, for which Kathleen has worked for 18 years.
