Higher standards

DAVID POWELL writes to draw my attention to the Association for English Worship which has been founded, principally to improve the standard of liturgical translation.

It aims at a dignified and sacred presentation in keeping with Catholic tradition and our own national heritage of public ceremony. The chairman is Fr Deryck Hanshell SJ, the secretary is Fr M T Elvins. The subscription is a nominal £1, annually, payable to the Hon Treasurer Michael Rycroft, 76 Brook Way, South Lancing, Sussex.

This seems a good way for the average man or woman in the pew to voice an opinion in order to get the best standards in liturgical translation.
