Congress Won't Raise Spanish Embargo

The third session of the 75th Congress has passed into history, with its last days marked by some uncertainty as to whether pressure groups would be able to force Congress to give serious consideration to raising of the Spanish embargo.
A special showing of Blockade. a propaganda film favouring lifting of the embargo, was arranged for the " solons" (an American term meaning "legislator "), but the embargo remains and the Spanish issue, so far as the American Congress is concerned, lies dormant, much to the annoyance of left wing supporters of Loyalist Spain, gm■■•••••-•,-,
many of the soldiers, whilst the remainder were distributed among units considered trustworthy, These happenings coincided with the sudden silence of one of the three secret wireless stations, broadcasting upon Soviet territory. It is being said that, when searching Belaya, Tscrkov, agents of the G.P.U. came upon an empty house in which a wireless station was discovered. The members of the " Union of Liberation " who operated it escaped, but for several days this station has not been heard. It has been ascertained that it had been constructed by technical experts of the local garrison.
Ezhov, head of the G.P.U., has at once gone to the Ukraine, where summary dismissals and arrests have begun on an unprecedented scale.
