Salesians choose new provincial

THE SALESIANS have chosen Fr Martin Coyle of the Bollington community as the next provincial of Great Britain province.

Fr Coyle was contacted on Boxing Day to be told of the appointment after a consultation was carried out in November led by Fr Fabio Attard, general councillor for youth ministry.

Fr Coyle, 45, hails from Cambuslang, outside Glasgow, and was ordained in 1993 before taking up teaching posts in Bootle and Chertsey and becoming headmaster at Thornleigh College in Bolton. He served on the provincial council from 2000 to 2006 and is currently rector of Bollington, one of eight Salesian communities in the Province.
