barriers to amity

HE attitude of the Vatican Council should "intensify and widen the dimensions" of the observance of Unity Octave in America, a New York priest has told Catholics.
"There is more kindness and openness, less hostility and suspicion (towards non-Catholics)", said Fr. Thus Cranny, S.A., director of the Church of Unity Apostolate.
The change of terminology, the disuse of words such as "heretic, schismatic, dissident, submission and return" indicates a change of attitude and a removal of some of the difficulties, Fr. Cranny added.
The esteem and respect for the beliefs of others meant no compromise or dilution of the Christian message, Fr. Cranny said, -"but is an expression of
mutual respect . . as the Lord would have us do."
The Chair of Unity Octave has been sponsored in America for more than 50 years by the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, known also as the Graymoor Friars.
