Doctrine of the Faith: harmless controversy with Fr. Hans Kiing

Fr. Karl Rahner, S.I., writing in the Jesuit review Stimmen Der Zeit expressed the view that there is no necessity to end the theological controversy between Fr. Hans Keng and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Fr. Rahner points out that the Congregation's statement Mysterium Ecclesiae makes it clear that understanding of the difficulties of theologians exists and equally that Fr. Ming has an obvious respect for the teaching office of the Church.

Fr. Rahner concludes that continuation of this theological controversy will do no harm to the Church.
