RENO, One-Church City, Can't Get Second School

The civil authorities in Reno, the American city famous for its divorces, have refused to allow the building of a second Catholic school in the city.

Reno is the seat of one of the smallest dioceses in the United States. The city has only one Catholic church — the Cathedral. There are only 25 priests in the diocese, not counting the Bishop.

For the 12,569 Catholics in the diocese there is only one Catholic school. According to the State laws the building of another school is only possible if the project gains a two-third majority in the municipal council.
