Oxford plaque of Our Lady

A plaque of Our Lady and the Holy Child. designed and made by Teresa Fuller using 60 tiles of a highly fired lead glaze, was blessed by Fr. John Smalley, S.J., and unveiled by the Lady Winefride Freeman last Saturday at the school playground of St. Aloysius, Woodstock Road. Oxford.

Sir John Rothenstein, the director of the Tate Gallery, who spoke at the unveiling. said that the plaque had been designed with loving care for a special place, a school playground, and a particular purpose, to appeal to children. Consequently it had a unique and individual character.

A picture of the plaque appears on p.4.
