CHILDREN'S CHAPEL IN NEW CHURCH

ARCH BISHOP KING, Bishop of Portsmouth, formally opened the new church of Our Lady and St. Bernadette at Pangbourne, Berks. The Abbot of Douai, who had consecrated the high altar on All Saints' Day, celehrated evening Mass in the presence of the archbishop Pangbourne is the first of the seven Mass centres served from Douai Abbey to have its own permanent church. The parish priest is Dom Oswald Dorman. O.S.B.

The church holds 150 people, and there is a chapel seating about 40 which is separated from the nave by a glass screen so that children can' see and be seen but not heard. To permit future extensions there is a temporary end against which an aluminium crucifix, floodlit after dark. has been fixed.
