The foundation stone of the new premises of the House of Van.heems. the clerical outfitters. was laid on Saturday by Mr. Martin S. Vanheems at 47/48 Berners Street, London, W.I.
The original premises at this address were deatroyed by enemy action in 1940 with the loss of three lives and all the stock and records. Since then the business has been carried on at 6, Cavendish Square and will remain there until the new premises are completed in about a year.
The House of Vanheerns was founded 162 years ago by a Martin Vanh•ems, a young refugee from Flanders. The Martin S. Van. hcems who laid the stone o Satur day is his great-great-grandson.
