WHERE'S THE CATHOLIC CHURCH?

SIR.-In last week's issue of THE CATHOLIC HERALD you published picture of a wayside crucifix together with a caption suggesting that the erection of such crucifixes would be a form of Catholic Action for 1949.

While agreeing with this splendid suggestion, may I suggest that a much more urgently needed form of Action would be. for every parish priest to see that his church has a clear notice outside telling passersby that it is God's own Church.

Travelling up and down the country as I do, I am amazed to find in so many towns that practically

every sectarian church or chapel is

well advertised whereas it is quite often impossible to decide that our church is in fact a Catholic church until I go inside.
