On Sunday last the Interval Club held its eleventh bi-annual Retreat for members of the theatrical and allied professions. The last two Retreats have been organised in co-operation with the Catholic Stage Guild.
About eighty actors and actresses made the Retreat. The music at Mass and Benediction was sung by the Interval Club Choir, which has greatly improved under the baton of Mr. Anthony Barry. The Mass was written by a member of the choir, and the same member wrote the 0 Salutaris and the Tantum Ergo, basing the latter on an old Welsh melody. At the conclusion the choir sang Charles Wood's Nunc Dimittis in B flat, in six parts.
Two conferences were given by Fr. F. C.
Devas, Si., the club chaplain. He also dealt with the questions put by those pre sent. This is a special feature of the Retreat. In order that they may be discussed freely, they are answered in a room instead of in the chapel.
In the evening. most of the retreatants accepted the management's invitation to dine at the Club and meet Fa Devas. Later, an informal musical evening ended a delightful day.
