The death occurred last Friday in Lewisham Hospital, Goulburn, New South Wales, of the Bishop of Goulburn, Mgr. John Barry.
Mgr, Barry was 63 years of age, and was born at Frccmount, Ireland.
He was ordained at Maynooth in 1900, and was appointed assistant priest at Mans field, Victoria. Later he became parish priest at Balaclava, Melbourne. He was administrator at St. Patrick's Cathedral and Chancellor of the Diocese from 1917 to 1924.
In 1924 he became the fourth Bishop of Goulburn, and was consecrated at St. Peter and St. Paul's Cathedral, Goulburn, by the then Apostolic Delegate, Dr. Cattaneo.
Mgr. Barry was a member of a wellknown Irish family. Two sisters are mothers-general of the Sisters of Charity of St. Paul, one in Birmingham, England, and the other in Ireland. His brother, the Rev. P. Barry, is president of an ecclesiastical seminary at Brooklands, New York.
