Catholics in Parliament

Last week, Mr. • Gallacher, the Communist member, fought hard in the House for the Spanish Reds, citing passages from the Catholic Press (including the Catholic Herald) and asserting that reports of atrocities were all lies. Mr. Gallagher ought to read French Communist papers and what they say. He was taken up by that sturdy fighter against Communism, Mr. Alfred Denville, to whom Catholics should be grateful.

But why were our own Catholic members silent? And why are they so often silent, leaving the burden of battle to others?
