In the course of an article on Catholicism and Communism (reported on page 9) Padre Gemelli, rector of the University of Milan, disclosed the list of the Pope's favourite books — the ones to be found upon his desk.
The list includes the Bible, the Canon Law Codex, Dante, Manzoni's famous novel, The Betrothed, Catholic Moral Treatise, and the Pontifical Year Book.
