LIVERPOOL NOTES

Mass will be offered for the repose of the souls of deceased members of the Liverpool branch C.W.L. Union of Catholic Mothers, in the Pro-Cathedral, Copperas Hill, Liverpool, on Thursday, November 19, at 10 a.m.

Over 120 people were present at the Simmonian dance held on Friday evening last in Boots' Card, Church Street. Mr. E. G. Crawford was the master of ceremonies.

The imaginary trip from the Swiss Frontier to the Austrian Lakes was the subject of a lantern lecture given by Mr. Gerald Waring in the Liverpool Catholic Secondary Schools' Club on Sunday evening last. Over sixty members attended and at the conclusion of the lecture it was decided to consider the arrangement of a European holiday trip under the auspices of the club next year.

" The Successor to Christ—His Church" was the subject of a special sermon preached last Sunday evening in St. Joan of Arc's, Bootle, Liverpool, by Father H. V. O'Neill.

Under the auspices of the Liverpool and District C.Y.M.S. Debating League an inter-town debate, Liverpool v. Leigh, will be held in St. Sebastian's Hall, Lockerby Road, Fairfield, commencing at 8 p.m. The question to be debated will be Is the Forty Hour Working Week Practicable?

The annual charity sermons were preached on Sunday last in St. Mary's, Highfield Street, Liverpool, by the Rev. T. Flynn, M.A., Ph.D., of Chorley.

Requiem Mass was celebrated on Wednesday in St. Francis Xavier's Church, Salisbury Street, for the deceased old boys of St. Francis Xavier's College.

Alderman Luke Hogan, 0.0.E., has been re-elected leader of the Labour Party in the Liverpool City Council.
