NUNS WAIT

FOR CURTAIN TO RISE

ABOUT 50 refugee nuns from Communist-ruled Czechoslovakia are moving into a modern convent in Salzburg. Austria, where they will prepare for an apostolate in Eastern Europe when the Iron Curtain is lifted. They will learn languages and customs of lands at present under Red rule.

The idea of the Convent was originated by Fr. Werenfried van Straaten, O.Praem., who also collected funds for its construction. He is famous throughout Europe for his large shipments of food to people behind the Iron Curtain and for his work in founding and running the international Building Order.
