Ilkeston: Shopowners in Ilkeston ha %e been [equested by the local Chamber of Trade not to open on Good Friday as the result of a plea by the Anglican. Methodist, and Catholic churches there.

Binglcy: Over 80 parishioners of the Sacred Heart parish are taking part in a bread-and-cheese lunch today (Friday) at the local Anglican church hall in aid of the Freedom From Ilunger campaign. Each denomination in the district is organising a lunch and the Sacred Heart parish effort is expected to raise more than M.

Stockport: Alderman 'Walter Durr, Stockport's new Mayor. is the first Catholic to hold the position for more than 30 years. He is a manager or twin local schools and a parishioner of St: Joseph's. Reddish.

Chester: The new Mayor of Chester. Miss Mary Heaney. is an actiNe member of the C.W,L., and a past president of thc Chester branch.

Twickenhani: An oven-air procession and Stations of the Cross is being organised by the local Council of the K.S.C. for Good Friday. The procession will leave the openair baths at '1 wickenharn Junction at 9.45 a.m. and the Stations of the Cross will he held at Twickenham Green at 10.30 a.m.

Nottingham: Plans for a new 1:25,000 church to seat 500 at Aspley. Nottingham. were announced this week by the parish priest of St. Teresa's. Aspley. Fr. Peter Neary. Fr. Nearsrecently built a S17.000 church, St. Hugh of Litwin, which was opened last week by Bishop Ellis of Nottingham.

Kenmore: A Dublin Jesuit. Fr. Michael Hurley. broke ice between Catholics and Protestants last w eck. when he woke to 15 Church of Ireland clergy at Kenmare. Co. Kerry. on F.cumen ism and Conversion. The meeting. first of its kind in Ireland. was praised by both Catholic and Protestant bishops.

Scotland: Archbishop Cardinale. Apostolic Delegate. will begin his official visits to the Scottish Dioceses on Sunday. April 19. First function will be an official reception at St. Mary's Cathedral, Edinburgh.

London: A striking painting of the Crucifixion. by Da% id Ramsay, is now on view at St. Patrick's church. Soho Square. Mr. Ramsay, an ex-pupil of Annigonni. specialises in portraits and still-life and has also painted a large can%as of the Resurrection.
