SIX of the nine Sri Lankan Catholic bishops were received in audience by Pope John Paul 11 at the Vatican on July 5. Pope John Paul commended their efforts for peace between the island's two communities, the Tamils and the Sinhalese. "The universal church is with you as you strive to promote the unity of your people, calling them to reject prejudices, wherever they may be found", he said.
