Irish Ghost Stories edited by Joseph Hone (Hamish Hamilton 14.25)
This is a good collection of stories about an unusual selection of ghosts not those taking the form of white figures at the top of the stairs. The stories are tame enough to be read at bedtime, and tell a lot about the country where the ghosts appear, its people and its visitors.
It is not recommended to those who like to frighten themselves with horror stories, but certainly recommended to those who like to read of Ireland, and Irish dialogue, with a seasoning of fear.
