We have been told this is the year of the Holy Spirit and of revelation. Pilgrims to Our Lady's shrine of Our Lady of the Roses, San Darniano, Piacenza, Northern Italy have been much encouragedby the famous Mariologist, Rene i,aurantin's assessment of many cures (and • inversions) despite an atmosphere of negation iron] the authorities; also in the knowledge that the Holy Father advised the Chilean Bishops to go there in 1975. Rene says systematic criticism of apparitions quenches the spirit which should he discerned. While the shrine has met with repression and opposition on the part of officials (full report later) 1 have taken the liberty to copy Rene's remarks m order to bring some comfort to those pilgrims who sought in faith and belief Our Lady's help throughout the confusion of the past
25 years in the Church.
