ARGENTINIAN Cardinal Eduardo Pironio died last Thursday aged 77, reportedly of bone cancer. He was formerly president of the Pontifical Council for the Laity. In telegrams to Cardinal Pironio's family and to the bishops' conference of Argentina, the Pope singled out the cardinal's work organising the first six international celebrations of World Youth day.
