Bishop angers flock with ban on bingo

Bishop Peter Sartain of Little Rock, has made a few enemies among his flock in Arkansas, banning bingo.

Bishop Sartain wrote to priests and administrators telling them to stop the pastime as it is forbidden under the state constitution. Apparently, bingo has supplemented the parish income for over 27 years.

Fr Tom Byrne, a priest in Conway, said: “We're all stunned.”
